REST (in peace) with Java

Abstract

REST is the architectural style of the current Web, and an exciting opportunity to model your application to withstand the onslaught of the masses. However, REST is only a conceptual model for building modern web applications, and the world of REST-influenced or -centric Java frameworks is still very much a playground for innovators.

With this university session, long-time REST aficionados Marc and Steven want to shed some light on the Java-side of Resource-Oriented Architectures, and provide a helping hand to get your first REST project started. After a short intro into REST theories, standards and tooling, we'll quickly shift to real-world code samples presented using Kauri, a Restlet/Maven/Spring-based Java framework for building RESTful applications. Samples will be based on an exciting real-world project we finished this summer for the BBC.
