JRuby
Abstract
JRuby is now well-established as a popular and powerful JVM dynamic language. But why would you want to use it? We'll walk through the basics of Ruby, jumping into more advanced and cool features that set Ruby apart. We'll show how to get a simple Rails app running and deployed to a Java server. We'll demonstrate a simple GUI framework, MonkeyBars, that lets you build your GUI in NetBeans Matisse and your application logic in Ruby. And we'll have a few eye-candy demonstrations showing JRuby calling graphics libraries like JMonkeyEngine.
