Alef Arendsen

BIO

Alef Arendsen is one of SpringSource's Principal Consultants, and has overall responsibility for SpringSource service delivery in continental Europe.
Alef is a software consultant with over 9 years' experience in the field of enterprise Java. He has worked with several Dutch companies, including start-up SmartHaven, where he was responsible for introducing a cutting-edge agile development process for a team of 35 developers. Alef has served as a mentor/coach for many development teams.

Alef has been a core developer of the Spring Framework since early 2003, responsible for parts of the web MVC framework as well as supporting services such as mail and scheduling. He currently manages the Dutch branch of SpringSource where together with 5 other consultants, he serves numerous clients with training sessions and consulting.

Recently, Alef co-authored the book Professional Java Development with the Spring Framework together with Rod Johnson, Juergen Hoeller, Thomas Risberg and Colin Sampaleanu. He also contributed valuable material to J2EE without EJB in 2003.

Alef has particularly strong experience in enterprise applications with complex integration requirements. As part of engagements Alef has been involved in during the last year, he has consulted on large financial applications for one of the world's top 15 banks, and several other highly scalable transaction processing systems for European clients of SpringSource, as well as several highly visible web applications. Alef regularly speaks at enterprise Java conferences and more informal sessions hosted by Java User Groups.
