Creating value, cutting costs and improving quality by using ICT is our main business. Working with Smals means that society as a whole will benefit from your expertise in ICT. Care to know more?

Advantages
ICT is already making a difference in public administration. The ICT service Dimona, launched by Smals for its customers in the public sector, saves companies in Belgium an astonishing annual 1,7 billion euro in administration costs. Thanks to Dimona over 240 000 employers in Belgium electronically declare new employee recruitments to a host of Belgian social security institutions, in just one click.

Smals is using Java technology including its own Java standards (JDSS) and SOA concepts to build these services. Innovation means offering our coworkers a lot of training & personal development. On average ICT specialists at Smals enjoy at least one day of training per month.

While technology is ever evolving, a stable working environment for our coworkers is key. As a company, we are proud of the excellent balance between work and private life we’re offering our coworkers, next to a competitive salary and plenty of career opportunities. Smals has been declared Top Employer in Belgium consecutively for 2 years now. We also have been awarded the title of Family Friendly Company.

Challenges
How would you conceive an ICT service linking available human organs to patients on the fly? That’s when ICT becomes a life saver. Availability and stability of our ICT services are of the utmost importance. Too much? How about a nationwide system that allows physicians to instantly open their patients’ medical history, while protecting and guaranteeing everone’s privacy and avoiding conflicting prescription drugs in all possible contexts?

Could you come up with an ICT service that automatically calculates people’s pensions, no matter how many times they’ve switched employers, fell inbetween jobs, got a raise or moved abroad? What about child allowances? Digitalizing life itself is not a walk in the park.

So are you ready for a challenge? Than help Smals in obtaining a second United Nations Public Service Award for using ICT in the public sector.
