Less annoying Java standards

Abstract

With reinvigorated processes for Java standards, and a desire for greater end-user participation and feedback into the standards process, this is a great time to get involved in the future direction of Java. In particular JSR-348 (aka JCP.next) is making great strides towards openness and transparency in the Java standards process. But is it enough?

Both Oracle and community leaders have identified a significant under-participation by end-users and ordinary developers in the standards process. This leads to standards that sometimes could have been better thought-out or more easily applicable to developers use cases.

This BoF aims to provide panel and audience discussion which leads to raw feedback for the standards process as to what is currently wrong with existing standards. In addition, we want to motivate greater participation by end-users and developers in the standards process.
